Stephen K. Bannon, one of Elon Musk's most vocal critics and former strategist for Donald Trump , told the NYT that he advised the US president to cancel all of the tech billionaire's contracts and launch several investigations into the world's richest man. Bannon also questioned the South African entrepreneur's immigration status , because " I firmly believe he is an illegal immigrant and should be deported from the country immediately ."

"The president welcomed him as family," the strategist explains, "invited him to Christmas and New Year's parties, allowed his son to run around the Oval Office. And Elon turned on him, because he's a narcissist. And he's not part of Maga. He doesn't understand America." What needs to be done now, according to Bannon, is "first of all suspend his security clearance, pending investigations into drugs and involvement with China."

"In the meantime," Bannon added, "we need to make sure the government has control over the management of SpaceX, because it has threatened to cut its biggest program, which is already funded by the government. Musk is clearly an unstable person." The chances that Musk will go with the Democratic Party are "real, especially because he knows that no one on the right will buy his cars and none of the MAGAs trust him. Trump is loved by a mass political movement, Elon Musk is not. It was reflected glory, he didn't understand that it wasn't about him."
