From next month, Australia will reopen its borders after citizens were banned from traveling abroad without specific authorization for 18 months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Scott Morrison who explained: “In the coming weeks, vaccinated Australians could go home and travel abroad once the 80% vaccination target is met. Now is the time to bring Australians back to life. We are preparing and Australia will be ready to take off very soon. "

The premier added that vaccinated residents could go into home quarantine for seven days upon their return, avoiding the mandatory and expensive 14-day hotel quarantine currently in place.

It was March 20, 2020 when the country introduced one of the strictest restrictions in the world by closing its borders in response to the spread of infections.
