Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an "aggressive" form of prostate cancer, CNN reports.

"Last week, President Joe Biden was checked for a prostate nodule," reads a confirmation note from the office of the former number one in Washington. "And on Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer with metastases to the bone," it is further specified, underlining that "although this represents the most aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management."

Biden and his family - it is understood - are deciding together with the doctors "the best path to take".
