The Period Products Act comes into force in Scotland, which guarantees the compulsory presence of free menstrual products in public places and which guarantees free sanitary pads or products for the menstrual cycle.
This is the first measure of its kind in the world and follows a decree already adopted in 2020, but so far never converted into law by the Parliament.
Since last August 15, however, women who need menstrual products will be able to get them without spending their own money. A measure that aims to combat the so-called "period poverty" , or the economic inability of some girls to purchase products for the menstrual cycle.
"As the cost of living advances - said the promoter of the law Monica Lennon - the Period Products Act becomes a light of hope that shows what can be achieved when politics is united for the common good of people".
