A year without Queen Elizabeth II. One year since that solemn announcement with which the BBC, followed closely by the other media, was authorized by Buckingham Palace to communicate the news of the death of "His Majesty" to British subjects, to the Commonwealth of the countries of the former empire and to the world , who passed away at the age of 96 and after 70 years of reign in her beloved Scottish residence of Balmoral.

To remember the unforgettable Queen Elizabeth today in Great Britain there is no particular public event, in homage to the sobriety and intimacy she herself practiced on the occasion of all family commemorations.

King Charles III recorded an audio message, which he released accompanied by the sovereign's favorite photograph of Elizabeth II.

In the message, the King recalls "the late Queen's devoted service and all that she meant to so many of us", while the image that the King chose to pay homage to her shows a young Queen, then 42 years old, sitting in a portrait.

In his short tribute the King also thanked the nation for the "love and support" shown to him and Queen Camilla during his first year as monarch. “As we mark the first anniversary of His Majesty's death and my accession to the throne, we remember with great fondness his long life, his devoted service and all that he meant to so many of us,” the King said. “I am Deeply grateful also for the love and support that has been shown to me and my wife throughout this year as we do our best to be of service to you all."
