Cassandre Beaugrand wins the women's Elite race in the Italian leg of the World Triathlon Championship Series currently underway in Alghero.
Minister Andrea Abodi is also present at the event, organised by the Italian Triathlon Federation, with the collaboration of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry for Sport and Youth, the Sardinia Region, the Municipality of Alghero and the Alghero Foundation.
The 28-year-old Frenchwoman stopped the clocks at 1h55'55”, building her victory above all in the 10km race .
In second place, 38” behind the winner, was the Italian Bianca Seregni, very satisfied with the excellent result achieved: «In a world series I had never reached the podium. It was something spectacular, something I will never forget», the 25-year-old Italian underlined smiling at the end of the race.
The third step of the podium went to 27-year-old British athlete Olivia Mathias, 1'09” behind Beaugrand.
The other Italians competing were outside the final Top 10: 11th Ilaria Zane (3'04” behind the winner), 21st Alice Betto (4'22”) and 27th Verena Steinhauser (6'38”).
The men's race is scheduled for this afternoon.
