Since 1999 the UN has proclaimed, in the week from 4 to 10 October ,   World Space Week. The UN coordinates its organization globally, under the leadership of the "Committee for the Peaceful Use of Space".

The dates of World Space Week, October 4 and 10, commemorate the milestones of humanity's entry into space : on October 4, 1957, the Russian satellite Sputnik I was launched, the first to be put into orbit by man, while on October 10 1967 the first international space treaty (“Outer Space Treaty“) came into force.

World Space Week therefore represents an international celebration of the contributions that space, science and technology offer to humanity. Events and educational programs are scheduled all over the world, for 2022 as many as 2,205 appointments on the theme "Space and sustainability".
The Unione Sarda Planetarium also joins the initiative with a series of events that will take place on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October between workshops for children, observation of the Sun with a telescope, and a journey to discover Mars and the exploration of the cosmos.

The complete program is available on the planetarium website .
