Federica Brignone won the silver medal in the giant slalom at the World Ski Championships in Meribel (France) .

The blue, third after the first heat, was only surpassed by the American Mikaela Shiffrin, who won the gold with a 12 cent advantage . Third place and bronze medal for the Norwegian Raghnild Mowinckel. Fifth the other blue, Marta Bassino.

Brignone approached Shiffrin gaining a position against the French Tessa Worley, who crashed in the central part of the second heat. It is the second time that the 32-year-old from the Aosta Valley of the Carabinieri has succeeded in the enterprise, 12 years after the conquest of silver in the Garmisch 2011 giant, her first world championship medal. Thus, after the victory in the opening alpine combined, the blue brings her personal tally at the World Championships to three medals .

Marta Bassino managed to recover eight positions compared to the first heat, recording the third fastest time overall in the second descent. The third Italian to finish the race, Asja Zenere, finished only 22nd.
