The Opera House of Cagliari opens to the summer season with 31 evenings on the bill, from 23 June to 6 August.

The appointments will touch the capital and other centers of Sardinia .

We start, therefore, on Thursday 23 June with a masterpiece of melodrama, “Pagliacci” by Leoncavallo . A symbolic title: in March 2020 he was suspended for the lockdown after the fifth performance, kicking off the sad season of closed theaters. The masterpiece will now be proposed in the staging signed by the Concerti de Carolis of Sassari.

"We have laid the foundations for an important collaboration between the institutions of Cagliari and Sassari", underlines the president Antonello Mattone . Domenico Longo , directed by Paolo Gavazzeni and Piero Maranghi , will direct the choir and orchestra of the Lirico. It continues on July 5 with the Carmina Burana , a masterpiece by Carl Orff. On the podium at the helm of the two stable complexes, Alessio Allegrini . Closing the summer events at the Opera, from 13 to 16 July, “ Entrez dans la danse ”, in the masterful interpretation of the Nice Méditerranée Ballet and with the artistic direction of Éric Vu-An and the orchestra led by Tommaso Ussardi.

The orchestra and choir will then be engaged, from 12 July to 6 August, between the parvis, squares, theaters and arenas of the island. A program focused on famous opera pages with Giovanni Andreoli choir master, while Gerardo Di Lella will direct the Gran Gala for cinema , finally a tribute to Verdi and Mascagni with the established director Gianna Fratta .

"Having loosened the measures related to Covid-19 , we wanted to favor the offer on the territory - explains superintendent Nicola Colabianchi - In Cagliari we start again with 'Pagliacci' with its double meaning: on the one hand it marks the restart from where we were had to interrupt, on the other hand it is suitable for a summer billboard ".

The season restarts in the theater, "an opportunity to recover the rite of sociability", says Maria Dolores Picciau, city councilor for culture.

"The Foundation's budget is in surplus - said Giuseppe Farris, vice president of the Steering Committee - with a profit of three million euros, almost ten in stock and the resumption of hiring".
