The winter sales are about to start, planned in Sardinia for January 4th , and consumer interest is high: almost one in two - 46% - has already decided to purchase at least one product , and a further 50% will evaluate the offers before buying.
This is what emerges from the usual survey on end-of-season winter sales conducted by Ipsos for Confesercenti.
59% of those interviewed have already planned how much to invest in renewing their wardrobe: approximately 218 euros will be spent per family , with a higher average in Central Italy (almost 263 euros) and among the over 34s (almost 239 euros). Significant figures, observes Confesercenti, for a promotional event that is still the most appreciated by Italians: 53% of those interviewed consider the sales to be the most convenient and useful event, while only 20% indicate Black Friday.
As happened in the last week of Christmas, also for the next sales, physical stores appear to have an advantage over online : people will buy through both channels, but eight out of ten Italians (81%) will choose stores for at least one purchase , compared to the 54% who will buy a product online.
The most desired fashion products are sweaters and sweatshirts, indicated by 51% of those who have planned to buy. They are followed, at a very short distance, by footwear (49% of the indications) and then - much further away - skirts and trousers (31%), with a strong interest in jeans and denim, and sweaters and tops (30%).
"The sales - and in particular those in physical stores - are confirmed as the most anticipated promotional event by Italians", says Benny Campobasso, president of Fismo Confesercenti, noting that "the problem of the date being too early remains, however: the climatic winter has just begun and there is a risk of selling off the winter collection before it can even be fully sold".
