In Alghero, in the "Men" category of the World Team Cup Wheelchair Tennis, came the third 3-0 defeat for Italy, beaten with the same score by Argentina, South Korea and Japan. It was precisely the Japanese who relegated Italy to the last place in Group C, a position that will now see it compete only to conquer a place between 13th and 15th place and, in 2022, will force it to play the qualifiers to obtain the access to the World Team Cup.

With number one Luca Arca blocked by muscle problems, the first single was played by Luca Spano, beaten 6-2 6-4 by Kouhei Suzuki, and the second by rookie Antonio Cippo, defeated 6-1 6-1 by Daisuke Arai. In doubles, Cippo and Spano then surrendered 6-1 6-0 to Yoshinobu Fujimoto and Takuya Miki.

On Wednesday, however, the Azzurri had collected a heavy 3-0 from South Korea. First Luca Spano had been beaten 6-0 6-4 after being 4-3 ahead in the second, then Luca Arca, who led 7-6 ( 3), 3-0, had been the victim of a muscle injury that had given him no escape, so much so that he lost the remaining two sets 6-4 and 6-3. Double bitter too, lost 6-2, 6-0 to Luca Arca and Antonio Cippo.

From today to Sunday, the final stages of all categories will be played on the hard courts of Baia di Conte: "Men", "Women", "Quad" and "Junior".
