Sergio Massidda is the European junior weightlifting champion, in the category up to 61 kg.

The Sardinian athlete (from Ghilarza), already two-time junior world champion in 2019 and 2021, climbed the top step of the podium in the races held in Rovaniemi, Finland, both in the jerk and in the momentum.

For the athlete of the CS Army, 126 kg of snatches (raised in the second test) and 154 kg of Clean and jerk, at the peak of three valid tests out of three. For him a total of 280 kg, which allowed him to outclass the Russian Vanik Mkhitarian with 269 kg (silver also by tear and sixth place of momentum), the bronze to the Bulgarian Gabriel Marinov with 267 kg (for him also bronze of momentum and fifth place of tear).

For Italy this is the third continental title in the Juniores and U23 European Championships, while six gold medals have been won so far, thanks to Massidda's tests and Giulia Imperio's performances.
