Concerns about the upcoming summer season in Sardinia aren't related to bookings , "but are essentially linked to the war crisis , the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and the fuel shortage." This was stated by the regional Tourism Councilor Franco Cuccureddu on the sidelines of the presentation of Extra 2026, an event dedicated to the non-hotel sector.
If rationing were to occur, some forecasts, the most dire ones, predict a cut of about a third of global air travel if the war were to continue for another month. It would truly be a catastrophe for the global mobility system as a whole, but above all, the first sector to be affected will be tourism . We hope the government will intervene to maintain reserves, especially on the islands : for us, it's becoming essential to have sufficient supplies for air supplies because air travel is essential for any form of mobility here.
