Nicolas Viola leads the group of former players who will take to the field in Bologna-Cagliari, Sunday at 3 pm. The playmaker played with the Felsinei in the 2021-2022 season, the last before arriving in Sardinia, with only 6 appearances in Serie A but useful for relaunching after a period as a free agent. Last year he renewed until June 30, but his will is clear: «I still feel like a kid, I think I still have a lot to give», he declared in an interview with Dazn. «I don't know what will happen in July: I'm a Cagliari player, I would like to stay here. My goal is to continue to grow, day after day: positive growth, together with my teammates. Try to always do better, put in that little bit extra that allows you to raise the level even further».
In Bologna, against a team that yesterday won 2-1 against Milan and relaunched itself with a view to fourth place, Cagliari arrives with a +4 on the relegation zone . " The objective is clear: we must achieve safety as soon as possible ," Viola reiterates. "We must always put in that little bit more, in training and in the match, to reach our goal. The championship is difficult, we are giving it our all and even when we go behind we often manage to bring home some points. We must continue to grow."
For Nicola (who will hold the pre-match press conference tomorrow at 12:15) there is the possibility of choosing the three-quarter line with the ballot between Viola himself and Gianluca Gaetano. « There is no competition, but a comparison between people who only want the good of the team », the comment of the number 10. « My age allows me to better manage these situations and offer something to those who are younger. I think Gianluca is an excellent footballer, he is giving us a lot. At the same time we can do something great together, both grow. We are a young team but at the same time made up of guys with more experience who make themselves available, mister Nicola is doing a great job with everyone ».
Viola also had a lot of praise for his Cagliari teammates, starting with the new ones: «Piccoli is a fundamental player for this team, he has obvious room for growth. We have to support him, make ourselves available to him as he does for us. If we continue like this, even more goals will come . Zortea and Felici are two interesting young people: exemplary professionals, they make themselves available on the pitch and in my opinion this will make the difference also in the future. They too can still grow a lot». But among the leaders there is also Mina: « He is not just instinct and great personality on the pitch. He is a very intelligent, respectful boy, who manages to get along with everyone . An example for the younger boys, both on and off the pitch. I am proud to be part of a group like that», concludes Viola.
