Wout van Aert has won Paris-Roubaix . The Belgian beat world champion Tadej Pogacar in a sprint finish at the Roubaix velodrome. This is the second consecutive year that the Slovenian has finished second in the race, the only Monument Classic missing from his list of achievements.

The Flemish player from Visma burst into tears after a victory he had been missing for a long time , belying for once his reputation as a perpetual runner-up.

Behind the two race leaders, third place went to Jasper Stuyven, while Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel, aiming for his fourth consecutive Roubaix victory, finished fourth. Frenchman Christophe Laporte finished fifth.
