A religious and civil tradition that Uta renews every year to strengthen relationships within the community and face future challenges and commitments with greater energy. These are the days of the feast of Santa Maria, an event awaited and lived with great intensity. Saturday 7 September starting at 6 pm the solemn mass in the sanctuary park.

Following, the procession through the streets of the town (all sequences will be shown live on Videolina and Sardegna 1). The heart of all the rites is the church of Santa Maria, which dates back to the first half of the 12th century, one of the most important Romanesque architectures in Sardinia, “beautiful among the beautiful”, according to a happy definition that the architect Maria Freddi left in a 1955 publication. A community rite in which the faithful from other centers of the Island also take part, present with folk groups and cultural associations in the procession, confirming how deeply felt the devotion is towards Santa Maria, whose simulacrum dating back to the 17th century draws the attention of all those who reach the sanctuary.

"If the Romanesque temple is a treasure chest of rare beauty - writes the parish priest of Uta Don Roberto Maccioni - the miraculous simulacrum of Santa Maria is the precious pearl it guards". On Sunday 8 September at 10 a.m. devotees will once again be walking through the streets of the town. Liturgical celebrations and other moments that characterize the civil festivities are scheduled. The celebration, in the words of the mayor Giacomo Porcu, is "a sort of early Christmas that brings many Utesi home". On 15 September, it is now a tradition, in the park of the Sanctuary of Santa Maria, there is a mass for the sick.
