Aryna Sabalenka confirmed her reign as queen in New York. The world number 1 tennis player won the US Open for the second consecutive year, beating American Amanda Anisimova in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-3 7-6 (7/3) .
There was no redemption for Anisimova who suffered another defeat in her second slam final after the 6-0 doubles defeat at Wimbledon against Iga Swiatek.
Meanwhile, anticipation is growing for tonight's men's final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz . This is the third straight Grand Slam final after mixed results in Paris, where the Spaniard won, and London, where the Italian prevailed.
It's the fifth consecutive Slam final for Sinner, who has won three of the last four majors and is aiming for a second consecutive double on hard courts after the 2024 victory in both Melbourne and New York . Alcaraz is reaching his eighth final in his last eight tournaments, starting with Monte Carlo: a steamroller, having reached the final act of the US Open without dropping a set .
The match begins at 8pm, and the world number 1 is also up for grabs , which Alcaraz could snatch from the South Tyrolean if he wins, also thanks to the three-month suspension agreed upon for the Clostebol case.
