It is called the Fund for the Financing of University Departments of Excellence and has an annual budget of 271 million euro, in order "to encourage the activity of the Departments of state universities which are characterized by excellence in the quality of research and planning scientific, organizational and didactic, as well as with reference to the research purposes of Industry 4.0".

In the ranking of the Anvur (National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research System) among the 18 Departments of Economics, Statistics and Business, there is also that of the University of Sassari, in ninth position, one of the three universities in the South and the Islands, generally monopolized by the universities of Northern and Central Italy.

This is a confirmation for the Department of Economics and Business Sciences (Disea) of Sassari, given that it had already received a positive evaluation in 2018 for the implementation of the 2018-2022 Programme.

The inclusion of the Department of Sassari among the national excellences demonstrates the quality of the research and certifies the value of the development project - five-year period 2023-2027, opening wide the doors of national funding.
