Given the success of the exhibition "Miró meets Maria Lai – the charm of surprise," which attracted over 6,000 visitors in three months, the organizers have decided to extend the exhibition until September 14. The cultural initiative is hosted at the CAMUC Museum and the Stazione dell'Arte in Ulassai. The extension, according to a press release, "will allow an even larger number of visitors—from locals to traveling art lovers—to experience this unique and evocative exhibition, even during the summer."
The exhibition offers an unprecedented dialogue between the works of Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 – Palma de Mallorca, 1983), a master of Surrealism, and Maria Lai (Ulassai, 1919 – Cardedu, 2013), a central figure in contemporary Italian art . Through an evocative exhibition itinerary, Miró's graphic works, paintings, tapestries, and unique pieces—from the prestigious collection of the Fundació de Arte Serra in Palma de Mallorca—are juxtaposed with a significant selection of works by Maria Lai, an artist who intertwined memory, identity, and tradition in a profoundly personal visual language.
Curated by Lola Durán Úcar and Marco Peri , the exhibition highlights the poetic and imaginative dimensions of both artists' work: on the one hand, Miró creates symbolic constellations with signs and colors that transform reality; on the other, Maria Lai weaves stories and relationships through threads of memory and matter. A unique event to discover the surprising encounter between two great 20th-century artists at the Camuc Museum and Stazione dell'Arte in Ulassai, united by a shared vision capable of moving, questioning, and inspiring.
The exhibition is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., closed on Mondays. Tickets and reservations: 350/1322810, stazionedellarte@tiscali.it
