An all-round artist: painter, sculptress, decorator and fashion designer, Edina Altara was one of the illustrious Sardinian women of the 20th century. In 1934 he opened an atelier in his home in Milan capable of attracting a refined clientele. In the early 1940s he collaborated with the women's magazine "Bellezza" directed by the designer Gio Ponti. Although he was born in Sassari, the city still did not have his works in a public collection: this is why the arrival in the National Picture Gallery of Sassari of the two large mirrors made in the 1950s for the first-class dining room of the motor ship is an event. The title of the two works is "Neptune and allegory of the Earth" and "Neptune, Nereids and Tritons". They will be presented on Saturday 29 January by the director of the Museums of Sardinia, Francesco Muscolino, and by the director of the Pinacoteca, Maria Paola Dettori, during the conference entitled: “Return home. Edina Altara's works arrive in Sassari in the collections of the Pinacoteca ”.

Federico Spano, grandson of the artist and founder of the Altara-Accornero Archive will participate in the event.
