Consideration of the €2 billion budget plan resumed this morning. The Chamber approved Article 11, which concerns employment. During the general discussion, Councilor Desirè Manca, in addition to outlining the planned measures—mostly aimed at training—reviewed fixed-term and permanent hiring in Sardinia over the past three years.

In 2024, there were 44,993 permanent contracts; in 2025, there were almost three thousand more: 47,257. "A stroke of luck?" the councilor said. "We've certainly implemented significant incentive measures during this period thanks to vouchers for permanent positions." In the last six months of 2026, there were 26,563 permanent contracts. Regarding fixed-term contracts, there were 262,527 in 2024, 259,402 in 2025, and 179,707 in the first six months of 2026. Regarding apprenticeships, there were 3,184 in 2024, 3,188 in 2025, and 2,448 in 2026. Manca spoke of "substantial parity in hiring between men and women." In 2026, 120,000 women and 127,000 men will be employed.

The Chamber then moved on to discuss Article 5 on education, which contains some of the most important measures. Specifically, the allocation of approximately €160 million to reduce university tuition and nursery school fees, as well as for the ERSU (Essential Schools for Education) in Cagliari and Sassari.

Also eagerly awaited is the discussion of the amendment to allocate €50 million in aid to truckers and agricultural businesses struggling due to rising fuel and fertilizer prices. Final approval for the measure is expected this evening.
