"To celebrate the centenary of the Cnr we have chosen a way that wants to safeguard biodiversity" said Maria Chiara Carrozza, national president of the research center, who did not want to miss the ceremony held in the Cnr of Sassari, in the Baldinca region.

The "Breath of the Future" project is carried out in collaboration with the Carabinieri Forestry, Environmental and Agro-Food Unit Command. The initiative aims to underline the importance of the plant heritage for environmental sustainability, for biodiversity, the mitigation of extreme weather events, without forgetting that verdant urban landscapes favor social cohesion. Scientific research has the task of providing innovative solutions to meet new needs in different contexts, representing important economic benefits.

In Sassari instead of planting the area with native species, twenty species of trees and shrubs of non-Sardinian varieties were chosen, such as cluster cherry, laburnum and sycamore.

After the greetings, President Carrozza planted one of the species with the collaboration of the students of the "Pellegrini" Agricultural Technician of Sassari who took part in the project by preparing a file on the tree species.
