Eugenio Giani and the center-left won the regional elections in Tuscany. With the vote count still underway, the gap between the outgoing governor and the center-right candidate Alessandro Tomasi is clear, with Giani receiving nearly 55% of the vote. Third-place candidate Antonella Bundu is significantly behind.

However, this election also saw a sharp drop in turnout: only 47% of eligible voters cast their ballots, compared to 62% in 2020.

Among the first to celebrate while the vote count was still underway was Matteo Renzi: "A great victory for Eugenio Giani and the center-left, hurray. And I have the impression that Casa Riformista is a really good idea," the Italia Viva leader wrote on X.

Then came Giani's own comment, again on social media: "I'm thrilled. Thank you, Tuscany." Democratic Party secretary Elly Schlein also rejoiced ("Congratulations, Eugenio!"), as did all the other leaders of the center-left coalition.
