Alfredo Trentalange is no longer the president of the AIA, the Italian Referees Association.
The former race director has resigned from the position he held for almost two years (elected on 14 February 2021, beating outgoing president Marcello Nicchi with 60.31% of the votes) on the eve of the Federal Council where the issue will be analyzed linked to the D'Onofrio case, former chief prosecutor of the AIA arrested a month ago for international drug trafficking (a matter on which Trentalange himself was heard on Friday by the federal prosecutor).
At 21 tonight the members of the National Committee of the association will meet the presidents of the regions via videocall, to explain the reasons for this choice.
Trentalange, ten days ago, had been in Cagliari as a guest of an event of the local section, when his position as president was not yet in question nor were there any signs of possible resignation in sight.
