On the occasion, during a collateral ceremony, Sardinia officially received the recognition as “Best In Travel 2026” by Lonely Planet International, announced in recent days .

During the global presentation of the winners of this prestigious award, the island was included for the first time among the 25 best tourist destinations in the world for next year , highlighted by the prestigious travel guide, which emphasizes the island's offerings as a perfect "combination of a wide and welcoming selection of sea and beaches, archaeology and culture, active tourism and traditions, slow tourism and the environment, with its food and wine and quality of life to share with guests and visitors."

In the "Best In Travel 2026" publications, the Island is presented with its treasures, from the excellence of artistic craftsmanship to food and wine, cultural and archaeological products, confirming its collaboration with the most prestigious publisher in the world in the travel sector.

"We are Best in Travel for 2026. Lonely Planet has chosen Sardinia as the only European region among the world's best destinations for 2026," commented the regional councilor for tourism, Franco Cuccureddu . He added: "Today we have the official seal of approval on this evening alongside the World Travel Market, which was a great success for Sardinia, a success in terms of participation by operators, and a success for the many tour operators who had appointments with our operators. So, with a beautiful stand, Sardinia, as always, dominated the Mediterranean and European regions."
