The start of the tourist season in Sardinia is confirmed as positive.

As emerges from a report from the Region, in the month of June 372,267 arrivals were recorded in Sardinian ports (Olbia 244,226; Porto Torres 70,926; Golfo Aranci 47,275; Cagliari 9,840), with an increase of 53.9% compared to the same period of 2021 .

In the same period, 589,331 passengers arrived at the three island airports, including scheduled and non-scheduled flights (Cagliari 264,123; Olbia 233,854; Alghero 91,354), with an increase of 95.5% compared to 2021 . And higher (almost 1%) even in 2019 .

"The data for the month of June confirm the trend that had been glimpsed since the Easter holidays, with a strong interest of tourists for holidays on the island - commented the president of the Region, Christian Solinas -. Numbers that, in July and August , will consolidate to match the numbers of 2019, and probably surpass them. Considering that in some months of 2022 health restrictions were still in force, it would be a truly exceptional result. The Observatory of Confturismo also speaks of a record summer, according to which at least 28 million Italians will leave until September and 80% will stay in Italy. Sardinia certainly has what it takes to be the ideal destination for Italians' summer holidays ".

"In addition - added the regional councilor for tourism, Gianni Chessa - with regard to air traffic data, compared to the record numbers of 2019, it must also be considered that in recent weeks there have been some days of strike, with related flights canceled. . Although we are satisfied with the result achieved so far and with what we expect, it is our duty to plan to stabilize these numbers, with the aim of making them grow further in the coming years ".
