A record 2022 for tourism in Sardinia.

According to the latest data released by the Region, this year over 6 million vacationers arrived on the island, of which 4.5 million in the summer season , from June to September.

SOLINAS - “We expected numbers in line with the record ones of 2019, but the figures for arrivals in September are even higher than those before the pandemic”, comments Governor Christian Solinas.

"Furthermore - adds Solinas - it is expected that the tourist flow will continue positively also in October, proving that Sardinia has the potential, which goes beyond seaside tourism, to extend the season. In 2022, between airports and ports, we have already passed the 6 million arrivals since the beginning of the year, of which 4.5 million between June and September. Also evaluating the indications that come from these data, we must plan the next season to confirm and consolidate this year's success , which does not represent a point of arrival, but an important starting point ”.

DATA - According to the data provided by the Port System Authority of the Sardinian Sea, in September 275,196 arrivals were recorded in Sardinian ports (Olbia 173,211; Porto Torres 67,560; Golfo Aranci 24,967; Cagliari 9,458), an increase compared to 2021 (+ 16.8%), but also to 2019 (+ 6.97%). A total of almost 1.9 million passengers arrived from 1 June to 20 September. Since the beginning of the year there are 2.3 million. In September, over 540 thousand passengers arrived at the three island airports, including scheduled and non-scheduled flights, with an increase of 30% compared to 2021 and 8% compared to 2019. Since June, there have been over 2.6 million arrivals, while since the beginning of the year about 3.8 million.

CHESSA - "We do not want to settle on the excellent results of this summer, but analyze them carefully to think about the future of tourism in Sardinia, a fundamental sector for the entire economy - underlined the regional councilor for tourism, Gianni Chessa - We have started to do so, in recent days, with the 'General States of Tourism', but the opportunities for discussion with operators in the sector will be repeated. Furthermore, starting this month, with the presence at the TTG Travel Experience in Rimini, the promotion of the 'Destination Sardinia' will also resume at international trade fairs ”.
