The 2023 edition of Monumenti Aperti sees the participation of sixty Sardinian municipalities and around 750 monuments that can be visited for free, under the guidance of over 16,000 people including students and volunteers.
Open Monuments is a cultural project born in Cagliari in 1997 from the passion and commitment of a group of university students gathered in the Hypogeum Association. Since 1999 it has been organized and coordinated by the Imago Mundi OdV Association.
After the five weekends in Sardinia, from 6 May to 4 June, and after the summer break, Monumenti Aperti moves overseas and lands on the Peninsula, in some municipalities of Emilia Romagna and Puglia.

"Practices of wonder": between past and future

The event has significantly changed the ways of using and enhancing the cultural heritage, successfully involving visitors of all age groups.
The payoff of the 2023 edition, "Practices of wonder", is an invitation to rediscover the pleasure of marveling at the beauties we seem to be used to and to reinvest in memory.
The visual of the campaign represents, through the collage technique, the head of the Venus de Milo enriched with photographic details of a contemporary woman's face. The message to be communicated is the reduction of the distance created between the monument and the viewer, a monument that is a vestige of the past but also and above all a root for the future.

Cagliari 27 and 28 May

In addition to the usual guided tours to discover the treasures of Cagliari, often unknown to many, the Open Monuments event offers a series of original itineraries designed for the world of disabilities, in agreement with sector associations.
Art and culture are and must be for everyone, even for the little ones for whom special guided tours are organised. The program is richer every year and can be consulted on the page dedicated to Cagliari , so as not to miss any of the appointments.
