Not even a sudden summer rain will be able to stop the thirteenth edition of the Sa Murra Tournament at the foot of Mount Santa Vittoria. The event, which has now become a tradition in the small Barbagia town, will be held as always in Piazza Sant'Ignazio, where tables and gazebos are already ready to welcome players and enthusiasts from all over the island. Born in 2010 thanks to the initiative of the Pro Loco, the tournament is now organized together with the "Sa Murra Sterzilesa" committee, formed by a group of young people from the town - Stefano Puddu, Enrico Loi and Roberto Boi in the front line - who, driven by their passion for this game, have carried on the tradition with dedication and passion, often even climbing onto the podium of the various tournaments organized in various centers of the island.

Sa Murra, an ancient Sardinian game that requires speed and mental alertness, involves young and old, consolidating generational ties and fueling a tradition that is now an integral part of Esterzili's culture.

Last year, ninety players from all over Sardinia took part in the tournament, playing in pairs to compete for the podium. Before the competition, as usual, there will be a dinner of roasted sheep and sheep in a coat: a convivial moment that reinforces the community spirit of the event.

The tournament, open only to participants who are 18 years of age or older, has been dedicated since 2012 to Raffaele Serra, a breeder from Esterzili who tragically died in a car accident. Serra, in addition to being a great player of Sa Murra, was one of the promoters of the event, and his memory is honored every year with this competition that carries on his love for the game and his community.
