It bounces on the cork bark marked by time, smoothes and shapes like Michelangelo the wild white granites that radiate on the proscenium of the deepest Gallura. The wind that here has always swept the ridges of the land of the Millenarians is strong and luxuriant, combing in favor of the mistral the olive trees that have stood out in the Pantheon of the patriarchs of nature for four thousand years. The calves, just weaned from a pasture that is as bold as it is frugal, enjoy a perpetual grooming that climbs promontories and sinuous peaks impregnated with mighty oaks and impregnable junipers. The road to stand out in the heart of the land that borders the Costa Smeralda is tortuous. It is useless to hope to pass through Monte Pino, the mountain and the asphalt strip that crossed it are still torn, like that cursed November 18th ten years ago when the flood crashed into the valley, devastating Olbia and beyond.

The lesson of the wrecks

The landscape is pristine, except for four old wrecks that grind the wind at low altitude, no more than 25 meters high. Rusted by time and by the greed of those who attempted a first wind attack on the territory, those four blades along the route to climb the Gallura interior are a slap in the face to the pristine skyline sculpted by nature in the past millennia. Yet, as if that lesson of degradation, contained and aborted, had not been enough, in this exclusive parterre of nature and history, archeology and unique landscapes, a real ambush of lobbies and businessmen, wind multinationals and predators is about to be overthrown of environment. Before crossing the entrance door of this paradise to deposit unrealized projects, disrespectful and outrageous of nature, they did not even have the goodness to listen to the most intimate testament of one of the most sublime singers of these valleys.

The magic of Faber

Fabrizio De André, who was the protagonist and mystical interpreter of these places, loved to repeat: «This place is magic, it gives so much joy to the soul, even when you return home destroyed by tiredness. It satisfies you and leaves no room for worries. Experiencing this dimension is the simplest but also the most profound way of experiencing this land." Who knows if Faber, who built his oasis of life in the Agnata di Tempio, would ever have accepted that sacrilege that has been lying for weeks among the paperwork of the former Ministry of the Environment, transformed by the lobbies into a department of renewable speculation. And who knows if the storyteller of the Hotel Supramonte , to stop the progress of these characters with lots of projects and money in their pockets, would have invoked the somatic traits that he recognized in the Sardinians: "They are an ethnic group that looks to the future and respects the past". In reality, if the havoc that advances undisturbed in the rooms of the Roman palaces were to take place, not only would the past be mocked, but even every dream for the future would fall without hope. Devastating, as would happen if the wind projects presented in this innermost part of the Gallura land were approved, would mean attacking without mitigating circumstances the extraordinary potential linked to the exclusivity and uniqueness of the landscape and the environment, undermining tourism development, that linked to the value priceless identity and history, naturalistic heritage and its economic engine. It is not known how the lords of the wind arrived here, close to S'Ozzastru, in the presence of Su Babbu Mannu, the great patriarch of the wild olive trees. The only certainty is that they met, all at the same time and at the same point. In less than six months the quadrant between Luras, Tempio, Sant'Antonio di Gallura and Calangianus, the historical heart of the internal areas of the north of the island, has become a land of conquest with at least six projects registered in the Environmental Impact Assessment protocol of the Pnrr, complete with multinationals and unknown companies ready to market any authorization to plant that jungle of scrap metal in the middle of those cyclopean granite statues that stand like monuments to nature in the proscenium of these untouched mountains.

There is the Spanish multinational water company, “Acciona Energia Global Italia Srl”, the multi-utility which already manages sewage waste in Sardinia thanks to the contract of the century won alone for the management of ninety percent of the Abbanoa purifiers. An all-Iberian team that plans to move a large part of its business in Sardinia from water to wind. The title of the project is: «Construction and operation of an electricity production plant from on-shore wind sources called "Campovaglio", in the Municipalities of Tempio Pausania and Aglientu, consisting of n. 11 aero generators, with a maximum nominal power of 77 MW, integrated with a storage system with a maximum power of 20 megawatts". Wind turbines as high as 67 floors of a steel skyscraper grating the sky on the south-north side from Tempio towards Aglientu. Sorgenia could not be missing, the wind company of F2i, the para-banking fund, which, together with the American Black Rock, has put the Sardinian airports in its sights, from that of Alghero to that of Olbia, passing through Cagliari. The lords of Italian high finance could not miss the wind power "slot" in upper Gallura. It is for that reason that the "Sorgenia boys" also showed up punctually and tirelessly for the appointment without warning. The objective, yet another, is to "break the bank" for a piece of the Gallura hinterland with a project with the apparently local name "Sinnada". The area chosen for the eight 210 meter high blades is the countryside of the municipality of Luras, with connection works also partially falling in the municipality of Calangianus. Planned power of almost 50 megawatts and a battery of 32. The most impressive, and also most dated, landing in the granite and cork quadrilateral is proposed by another multinational in Po Valley style, A2a, owner, through the usual ten thousand euro matryoshka dolls, of the VGE 04 srl. The project has been lying at the Ministry of the Environment for some time with the orographic incipit: "Petra Bianca Wind Park", 14 wind turbines for a total power of 84 megawatts. The location is entirely concentrated between Luras, Tempio Pausania, Calangianus and Aggius. On the northern side of the climb to the land of thousand-year-old olive trees, a company with a name that says it all appeared at the end of last October: Myt Eolo 1 srl. The shareholder diagram escapes the corporate accountant, even if the first generator can be traced back to a company Renx Italia with connections in the Balkans, from Macedonia to Albania, passing through Poland. In this project there is the incursion on the northern side of the Liscia dam. The tangle of scrap metal to be installed, not surprisingly, has an explicit name : "Bassacutena Wind Park". The declared power is 61.2 megawatts. An operation entirely concentrated in the administrative island of Tempio Pausania. Who has imperialist cravings in the north wind is Gaetano D'Oronzio, a lord of the wind who tries the climb with the "Gallura Wind Park". He is the head of "Sardegna prime srl", a team with an immeasurable multiplication of "limited responsibilities" all dedicated to the wind power and renewables slot machine. He would like to capture "his" wind between Tempio, Luras and Calangianus with 11 wind turbines with a total power of 79.2 MW, and an energy storage system, a battery with a power of 64.8 MW, for a total power of at 144 MW.

The latest project in chronological order has not yet had the dignity of publishing the documents. Ant srl presented it on October 27th: another 8 shovels to be placed in the landscape of Sant'Antonio di Gallura for a power of 59.4 megawatts. High G allura is served. The last sovereign eagle grants itself the last hang among the granites. The wind slicing blades are upon us.
