The Vinitaly of records opens its doors: today the inauguration of the 55th edition. For the 112 Sardinian wineries showcased in the four days in Verona (until Wednesday 5th) a great opportunity at a time when the world wine market seems to be experiencing an awakening of great interest.

Off therefore not only to business but also to the promotion of the Sardinia brand : many appointments including tastings, conferences, masterclasses and sensory itineraries, mostly set in pavilion 8 of the exhibition center where the institutional area is located with 72 Sardinian producers included in the collective of the Region (the other 40 are in autonomous stands). This morning the presentation of Cannonau Likeness International was held, the selection of the best Cannonau and similar, which will take place from 20 to 22 May by the Municipality of Oliena with Vinoway and Assoenologi Sardegna.

Following appointment with the tasting of the wines of 11 producers of the Mamojà association, presented by Ian d'Agata (Room B - Hall 10); then the "Sicily and Sardinia" seminar of the Vinitaly Tasting, with Daniele Cernilli, DoctorWine. In the afternoon “The pieces of 90 of Italian enology” by Epulae (Hall 8).

On Monday at 2 pm, the seminar Vines and unique wines from a thousand-year history : the natives of Sardinia, organized by Laore with the national association Città del vino, Agris and Assoenologi: the masterclass will be held by Mariano Murru, Andrea Pala and Antonio Manca. They have the task of presenting three different grape varieties: Nasco (Murru), Arvisionadu (Pala) and Granazza (Manca). On Tuesday, again in pavilion 8, at 2 pm the press conference to present the international competition Grenaches du Monde, curated by Laore in collaboration with Civr France . The event this year will be held in the United States.

Sensory pathways

Not only wine among the events organized by the Region but also a lot of enhancement of the typical products of the island. An interesting gustatory/sensory itinerary that will be guided by the journalist Giuseppe Carrus . We start today with the baker Riccardo Porta for the perfect match between bread and different types of wine, based on the flours used and the cooking process. Tomorrow combined goat cheese and wine with the expert Danilo Farina. Tuesday is the turn of the art of cured meats with Antonello Salis. Last but not least, Wednesday: traditional Sardinian pastry products.

The numbers

Verona therefore once again proposes itself as one of the largest global events dedicated to the world of wine together with Düsseldorf (Prowein) and Paris (Wine Paris & Vinexpo ). A Vinitaly with large numbers with over 4 thousand exhibiting companies from more than 30 countries in the 100 thousand square meters of exhibition space. An appealing showcase, over 25,000 operators expected from abroad alone . And then the business with a thousand top buyers arriving from 68 countries and over 10 thousand appointments already fixed between companies and professionals in the sector.
