The presentation of the master's degree course in Archeology is scheduled for Wednesday 13 July, at the Cittadella dei Musei "Giovanni Lilliu", in Piazza Arsenale in Cagliari , a new training proposal that draws on the experience of studies and initiatives conducted in the area from the University of Cagliari and which was created with the aim of responding to the growing need for renewal of knowledge, methods and tools that characterize the sector.

The course aims to train a figure with adequate knowledge and specialized skills , able to access the professions of archaeologist , of museum, cultural and archaeological site officials , of the Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape superintendencies , in the context of staff of the Ministry of Culture, in the sector of libraries specialized in archeology, in local authorities , in institutions engaged in the field of research and enhancement of the archaeological heritage, including for tourism purposes and for the sustainable development of the territories, in private companies engaged in the recovery of archaeological heritage, in publishing and specialized publications, also on a digital platform.

To complete the general knowledge in the field of traditional archaeological disciplines, prehistoric, protohistoric, Phoenician-Punic, Greco-Roman, late-ancient, Christian, medieval, post-medieval archeology, proposed in Sardinian and Euro-Mediterranean key, make Egyptology and Coptic archeology also entered the new degree.

Among the more technical courses archaeozoology, digital archeology, chemistry applied to cultural heritage, archaeometry of productions and underwater archeology.

Greater attention is paid to the axis of heritage management and communication, with the activation of the teaching of Management of Cultural Heritage and Public Archeology and Communication of Cultural Heritage.

The strengths of the training course are the participation of the students in the archaeological excavations of the University of Cagliari throughout Sardinia and the main seat of the activities in the Citadel of the Museums, in close contact with the exhibition spaces of the National Archaeological Museum, with the laboratories and the archaeological collections of the university and with the university library specializing in archaeological and historical-artistic studies.

For Fabio Pinna , coordinator of the course, "the master's degree in Archeology represents the central piece of a training course on three levels, which begins with the archaeological curriculum in the degree course in Cultural Heritage and Entertainment and continues with the School of Specialization in archeological and with a doctorate: the University of Cagliari is therefore able to offer adequate training for the three different professional levels in the field of archeology recently specified by the Parliament and the Ministry. It is therefore an important opportunity for Sardinian students, who can find competitive specialization opportunities on the island in the field of archaeological training, even with respect to the current Italian and international offer ".
