The commitment of the University of Cagliari continues with strength in supporting female students, university staff and teachers from Ukraine.

And there are two ad hoc initiatives to allow them to continue their activities in the University of the Sardinian capital.

The first is aimed at Ukrainian students who intend to continue their studies at the University of Cagliari : as part of the "Smile Now" project, a selection based on qualifications only has been launched which provides for the award of 10 two-year scholarships for to female students and university students with Ukrainian citizenship who, due to the ongoing war conflict, benefit from certain conditions in Italy.

Recipients are people who have applied for or are holders of a residence permit for temporary protection pursuant to the Italian and European regulations in force on immigration following the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine . Recipients are also those who are already enrolled in bachelor's or master's degree courses at universities based in Ukraine and intend to enroll in this university, having the right, in single courses for the academic year 2021/2022. The period of use of the "Smile Now - Ukraine" scholarships is between 1 June 2022 and 31 March 2023.

The second initiative, on the other hand, envisages the allocation of mobility grants for Ukrainian students, students and university staff within the Erasmus project. In fact, the European Commission has established that it is possible to finance, in an entirely exceptional way, incoming mobility to participate in activities supported by EU internal policy funds. The initiative, specified by the University of Cagliari , “is aimed at students enrolled in a Ukrainian higher education institution when they flee Ukraine due to the recent war to carry out mobility for study or internship; recent graduates and graduates in Ukraine within a maximum of 12 months from the moment of fleeing Ukraine due to the recent war conflict, to carry out mobility for traineeships; staff employed in a Ukrainian higher education institution when fleeing Ukraine due to the recent war, to carry out mobility for teaching activities, including the mobility of teachers invited by companies, and for staff training mobility ".

The call for the assignment of this particular type of Erasmus scholarship for Ukrainian students and recent graduates will be issued by 19 May and will be available on the specific web page of the Sardinian university website.
