The electric “leash” landed in the night, among the dark lights of the desert of what was the Porto Canale of Cagliari. “Secret” docking in the most extreme of the docks, the one already delegated to the explosives loaded with death destined for the Middle East. The front is the one far from prying eyes, to “cover” loading and unloading, all aimed at the potentates of the moment, from the sellers of weapons to the greatest of servitude in the land of Sardinia, the energy one.

They are not grains

When the Wilson Flex I , a Portuguese-flagged cargo ship, hooks the last line to the furthest bollard, it becomes clear in an instant that the cargo was not “grain”, as befits those cranes initially authorized for “bulk”. Rhenus-Arkon-Shipinvest , a shipping company straddling Germany and Northern European countries, did not have many cargo options. Its curriculum vitae clearly shows its core business for the future: sea transport of latest-generation wind turbines or industrial electrical modules.

Mysterious cargo

The “mysterious” cargo is all wrapped in a sort of white “ Teflon ” that camouflages every detail, making those giant reels indecipherable, one after the other, occupying the “salt yard” at the extreme tip of the Giorgino canal. The “cubital” numbering of the unloaded modules is the only evidence that shines through the fence, entirely “militarized” by rotating cameras designed to frame flamingos and crows. The only indication is the navigation route marked by satellites: from the port of Dkska , on the northernmost coast of Denmark, to Macchiareddu.

From Norway to Giorgino

An endless journey from Northern Europe to the far south, considering that those cables, so secretly “protected” in those steel coils, were produced in none other than Halden in Norway. The saltiness is the only ally of the news. The edges of the “omission” plasters, placed to hide every element of that load, give way as the saltiest of mistrals advances. The first revelations are linked to that brand that reveals itself without too many preambles: Nexans , one of the multinational cable companies, which has been awarded for an outrageous sum, 650 million euros, together with Prysmian , the supply of 500 kilometers of HVDC submarine cables, High-Voltage Direct Current , or a system for transmitting electricity in high voltage direct current, to build the most invasive of the electrical “leashes” in the history of the Island. The codes omitted from cheap “patches” reveal the cargo: “Tyrrhenian Link cable”. The technical specifications of the “treasure”, unloaded in front of the most deserted free zone in the world, emerge almost as a sign of surrender to the windiness of the dock: max back tension 30 kn. This is the confirmation that those white “rides” are the first cargo of the marine-land cable destined to disembowel the coast from “Terra Mala” to Selargius, 30 km of “moles” and open-air excavations, devastating agricultural areas and beyond. When the paraport yard becomes impassable from the white expanse, all that remains is to plan the transfer to a more secluded and spartan place. The caravan, this time too mitigated by clandestine subterfuges, at night and anonymous routes, leaves the crossroads of Macchiareddu to reach the place chosen for crossing the “leash”, the axis between Terra Mala and Selargius. The home identified to store the first dose of ultra-electric cables, necessary to inflict the electrical “robbery” of the century on the Sardinians, is in “covered” land, that of San Gaetano, a hamlet of Quartucciu, in an old “cement” plant in the open countryside. Here too it seems they fear the robbery of the century: there are more cameras than people, with a monumental crane waiting for the load to fill the yard of the coils, coincidentally just a stone’s throw from the most dangerous concentration of lithium batteries ever built in Sardinia, together with those of Portoscuso and Ottana. Terna, therefore, does not stop. And no one stops Terna. After all, the para-state company, the arm of the State for electrical transmission, has fully embraced the strategy of the large lobbies of the energy potentates and the “cronies” inside the Palaces: to transform Sardinia into the electrical “slipper” of the most fake electrical transition ever conceived and pursued in Europe.

Court of Auditors stuff

The Tyrrhenian Link is the most advanced icon of this project, an unprecedented waste of public resources, something that if the Court of Auditors were to get its hands on it, the shock would be high voltage for everyone. In reality, the ones who will pay for this “bloodbath” of 3.7 billion euros, assuming that the costs do not multiply further, will be the citizens, starting with the Sardinians. The financial damage that could arise is cyclopean: all linked to the irrationality of transporting electrical energy for almost a thousand kilometers, 970 km to be precise, carrying the “current” around as if it were a simple energy product. This is not the case. The data that are kept hidden, compared by in-depth sector studies, say something completely different: the overall loss of electrical energy in the Sardinia-Sicily stretch alone statistically reaches a value of 33.6% or, in energy terms, approximately 336 megawatts/hour for every 1,000 megawatts/hour fed into the converter station. With the same calculation basis, considering that the cable from Sicily will then go to Campania, the “losses” would statistically reach the scandalous value of 56.5%, or 565 MWh for every 1,000 MWh.

Citizens pay

The result is a work that will end up making citizens-users pay an exorbitant cost of energy. Energy will be paid at a high price to the lords of wind and sun, the Tyrrhenian Link will lose 56% of it to the network, making the bill even more expensive by unloading the electrical losses in the "System Charges" on Sardinian families. In the face of the principle-law that should impose the consumption of renewable energy in "proximity" to the places of production. In Sardinia, instead, it is the time of the robbery, since the Sardinians pay. With the silence of many, the complicity of too many.
