“Le Verità”, the book conceived and edited by Giulia, journalist from Sardinia, in collaboration with the University of Cagliari, will be presented on Thursday 6 February at 5:30 pm in Cagliari at the Fondazione di Sardegna, via Salvatore da Horta 2.
The volume collects 18 different reflections on the concept of truth proposed by some of the major experts in the various professional, study and research sectors, present on our island and in other Italian regions.
It is a useful support to help discern the true from the false, reality from fiction, in an era marked by the phenomenon of infodemic, overloaded with messages, information, images, which overwhelm the entire society on a daily basis.
"In recent years we have witnessed a pandemic within a pandemic - says Susi Ronchi, regional coordinator of Giulia giornalistite - a hyper circulation of information that has produced an enormous quantity of false or pseudo-scientific news on the Internet. The book Le Verità is a sort of vademecum to guide not only our conceptions of the world but also our choices in the most reasoned and conscious way".
The text raises some important questions: do we have the tools to seek the truth, to defend ourselves from the traps of fake news, to dismantle the mechanisms of post-truth, the result of the encounter between information and propaganda?
These topics and many others are explored through a detailed analysis by the 18 voices present in the book that intend to offer different points of view to reveal the multiple faces of truth. Among the many concepts proposed is that relating to the dogmatic truth that is proper to faith, to the procedural truth that arises from the rules of the process, to the substantial truth of the facts represented by information, to the historical, epistemological truth, to the post-truth that develops in political communication.
The meeting moderated by Tiscali News journalist Antonella Loi, will be attended by the rector of the University of Cagliari Francesco Mola who will introduce the proceedings, and some of the book's authors: Valeria Aresti, Giuseppe Baturi, Francesco Birocchi, Roberta Celot, Luciano Colombo, Francesca Ervas, Elisabetta Gola, Micaela Morelli, Marco Pignotti, Susi Ronchi, Simonetta Selloni, Silvano Tagliagambe.
