Sad and sensual, melancholic and passionate: the tango continues to fascinate and owes so much to the revival that Astor Piazzolla made of it in the 1900s.

On the occasion of the centenary of the Argentine composer's birth, the Ballet of Rome dedicates a "Dance Concert" to him, with choreography by Valerio Longo and direction by Carlos Branca.

The island tour promoted by Cedac for the dance season kicks off tomorrow from the City of Sassari at 9.00 pm. The other stops are at the Bocheteatro di Nuoro (Wednesday at 8.30 pm), in San Gavino Monreale (Thursday at 9.00 pm), at the Centrale di Carbonia (Friday at 21) and at the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari with two dates, Saturday at 20.30 and Sunday at 19.

On stage the dancers of the Ballet of Rome : Nicola Barbarossa, Paolo Barbonaglia, Roberta De Simone, Alessio Di Traglia, Serena Marchese, Francesco Moro, Giulia Strambini and Virginia Vorraro.

They interpret a captivating tale for paintings built on the music of Astor Piazzolla , with inserts of original pieces and arrangements by Luca Salvadori, in the intriguing soundtrack performed live by Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi on bandoneon and accordion, for an ideal journey overseas, up to the region of the Río de la Plata.
