The unbearable lightness of being is a German proverb, which aims to highlight or underline how the choices that a person makes in their life appear completely irrelevant when compared with life itself. The lightness of being is a light breath compared to the weight of life. Milan Kundera, published "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" in France for the first time in 1984. Milan Kundera's work is part of those social and political openings that marked Czechoslovakia and which were driven by the "Prague Spring ".

Despite everything, it had a short life. From January 5, 1968 to August 20 of the same year when a military expeditionary force of the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact allies invaded the country. But the desire for change, for more freedom, was so strong that Jan Palach, a philosophy student, set himself on fire in Prague's Wenceslas Square to protest against the Soviet occupation.

So our life needs sustainability and affects all its aspects starting from the world in which we live. By how we view our development. In 1987, "Our common future", the final report of the World Commission on Environment and Development, was published. In this report, "Sustainable development" is development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. "The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" is the document adopted by the governments of the 193 member countries of the United Nations in September 2015, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Especially in this relationship, sustainability derives from the integration and balancing of its three environmental, social and economic dimensions. Environmental sustainability concerns all aspects of our daily lives. #SoloUnaTerra is the hashtag used to celebrate World Environment Day on 5 June. The theme of this year's Day will be "Restoring Ecosystems", with the aim of preventing, stopping and reversing the damage inflicted on the planet's ecosystems, or in any case mitigating, making the effects of climate change less serious.

In the context of sustainability, it seems to me that the environment can be given maximum consideration because we are talking about our common home, the only one we have. At stake is not only the exploitation of resources, their consumption, but the compromise of the air which together with water are essential, indispensable for life. Some data should trigger an alarm because in the face of environmental pollution we must not give up. The leading cause of death from childhood disease in our country is cancer and its incidence, the number of new cases, is double the European average. So we must become aware that it is necessary to protect the ecosystem and at the same time renew natural resources. Economic sustainability is a complex issue which, on the one hand, must produce income and work in a lasting manner, but must also and above all do so within the territories, enhancing its wealth, protecting the ecosystem and the renewal of natural resources.

Earth Overshoot Day, is the day in which we have consumed all the resources of the planet. Starting from 1970, the graph shows us how we consume the planet's available resources not at the end of each year, but even in 2023 on July 27th. From that day on, we start using “non-renewable warehouse resources”. Finally, social sustainability understood as the ability to satisfy conditions of well-being through what we call citizenship rights such as security, education, health, to give everyone equal starting opportunities in the race for life.
