For the second consecutive year, Quartu will host one of the official stops on the Strega Tour 2026, the eightieth edition of the most prestigious national literary prize.

The finalists of the 2026 Strega Prize, the five winners to be announced in the coming days, will gather at the former Carabinieri barracks on Via Roma. This year's event will once again be hosted by Fabio Canino, a beloved host and author, in an evening dedicated to books, stories, and the voices of contemporary Italian literature.

The event, scheduled for Thursday, June 11, is sponsored by the Municipality and organized by Argonautilus APS and 011 Solution. It also benefits from the support and patronage of the Quartu Cultura Foundation.

The Strega Tour's presence in Sardinia is a particularly significant and memorable moment: it is only the second time in the history of the Prize that the official tour has come to the island. Last year, Quartu hosted the meeting with the finalists, which included Andrea Bajani, who was later proclaimed the winner with his novel "L'anniversario."

This return confirms the region's ability to host highly prestigious and media-rich events. The 2026 edition also takes on a special significance because it celebrates the eightieth anniversary of the Strega Prize: a history spanning generations of authors and readers, which continues to represent one of the leading observatories of contemporary Italian literature.
