In the registration forms for schools in Sardinia there must be the possibility for parents of girls and boys to choose whether to raise their daughters and sons in a multilingual context where there is Sardinian.

This is the request, contained in a letter addressed to the director general of the regional school office, to the president and to the councilor for public education, of 11 associations.

The regional law n. 22 of 2018, the associations recall, establishes that "the Region assumes the linguistic identity of the Sardinian people as a primary asset and identifies in its affirmation the prerequisite for all personal and social progress".

The dictates and the spirit of the law "are however disregarded - explains the association - by the fact that the fathers and mothers of Sardinia, at the time of enrolling their daughters and children in schools of all levels, do not find in the registration form the possibility to choose whether to include the use of Sardinian in the activities of the daughter and son ".

"It is a clear violation of the right of Sardinians to be able to learn, study and know every field of knowledge - they continue - a right enshrined in the aforementioned law and numerous international norms".

In Friuli Venezia, it is still recalled in the letter, parents are invited to "indicate in the registration form if they want to use Friulian in the education of their daughters and sons".

"We want this possibility to exist also in Sardinia - the conclusion - and we ask the Sardinians and Sardinians to put pressure on it so that it is possible".

The signatory associations of the light are Babel Film Festival (ELEN), Bia - Bilinguismu in Aristanis, Biblioteca Gramsciana, CAMPOS - Coordination Association of Musical and Poetic Arts of Oral Tradition of Sardinia, Consulta de su sardu de Sardara, Lìngua Bia, Movidì, Sardware , Acadèmia de su sardu, Domo de totus - Sassari, Cobas Sardinia, Iscandula.
