The Russian embassy in Italy paid Salvini for the trip that the leader of the League should have made to Moscow on May 29 and which then jumped following the strong political controversies that were unleashed.

This was announced by the embassy itself, saying it had "assisted Matteo Salvini and the people who accompanied him in the purchase of airline tickets".

This was, it is specified, assistance "necessary for the sanctions" which suspended the Rome-Moscow connections and which made it difficult to purchase Aeroflot tickets from Europe. The flight on which Salvini should have boarded departed from Istanbul.

After the cancellation of the trip , the embassy specified, " the amount spent by the League has been returned to us, we see nothing illegal". In Moscow, the embassy adds, "they were ready to meet the Italian representative at the appropriate level".

THE POLEMICS

Head down attacks come from Pd and M5S. The Simona Malpezzi dem asks for clarification on the " serious ambiguities " that would emerge from the planned trip and then canceled, Lia Quartapelle asks what Salvini was going to do there. More mocking is the pentastellato Gianluca Castaldi, who talks about the “ Papeete-Moscow ” trip.

Renzi is also ironic, “it's a pity the return ticket” he comments. While for Carlo Calenda " Salvini is dangerous for national security ".

"COMPLAINT WHO INSININATES"

Salvini has given a mandate to his lawyers to sue those who, starting from the media and politicians, have made or are making insinuations and accusations about the possible trip to Moscow. The expenses for the possible air travel were entirely paid by the League, as confirmed and clearly explained by the press office of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Italy. No free Kremlin tickets, therefore, and no "travel paid from Moscow" .
