The Public Prosecutor's Office of Rome investigates fuel price increases on roads and highways to identify responsibilities and possible speculation. The investigations, established by the Ministry of the Economy, were entrusted to the economic-financial police unit of the Guardia di Finanza in Rome .

Also on the prosecutors' table was the complaint presented by Codacons in as many as 104 proxies in which it is asked "to investigate the prices of petrol and diesel in order to ascertain any speculation or unjustified price increases".

Since the government has definitively canceled all the discount on excise duties, fuel prices continue to rise . Petrol flies to 2 euros, diesel travels towards 2.5 euros per liter on the motorway.

Record prices in some areas: in La Maddalena petrol reached 2.087 euros per litre, 2.229 euros for diesel . In Ischia a liter of green costs 2.054 euros, for diesel it costs 2.104 euros. On the island of Vulcano, diesel reached 2.349 euros per liter in served mode, 2.239 euros/litre for petrol.

Prices on the motorway are prohibitive: in served mode, the green light costs 2.392 euros per liter on the A1 Rome-Milan, and diesel travels at 2.5 euros per liter (2.479 euros).

All this despite oil prices in sharp decline.
"Fuel prices seem out of control, and after the stop to the cut in excise duties we are witnessing strong increases in pump price lists throughout the territory, the entity of which does not seem in any way justified by the trend in oil prices - says the president of the Codacons Carlo Rienzi - For this reason we presented a complaint to 104 prosecutors throughout Italy and to the Guardia di Finanza, asking them to investigate the prices of petrol and diesel in order to ascertain any speculation or unjustified increases ».

«The European comparison demonstrates how Italian motorists pay the price for an abnormal taxation that brings price lists to the highest levels in Europe - says the president of Assoutenti Furio Truzzi - We wonder if the Premier Meloni is aware of these numbers and whether it intends to intervene to avoid a new economic emergency which will inevitably have heavy direct and indirect effects for families and businesses".
