Roberto Maroni returns to the Viminale: he was called by Luciana Lamorgese to preside over the Council against illegal hiring.

A surprise move, that of the Minister of the Interior, who in recent weeks has been harshly criticized by the successor of Maroni at the helm of the League, Matteo Salvini, who also yesterday called for his resignation ("in a normal country he should have already left ") for the violence at the demonstration on 9 October in Rome.

For some time Maroni - who in June had withdrawn his candidacy for mayor of Varese - seems to have distanced himself from the current Northern League secretary and from his line by looking favorably at the positions of the more moderate Giancarlo Giorgetti.

There is certainly a relationship of esteem between the minister and the new-old tenant of the interior ministry, matured over the years as minister of Maroni, when the then prefect Lamorgese was his deputy head of the cabinet (2008-2011) and even later, in 2018, when - as president of the Lombardy Region - the League maintained good relations with her, who in the meantime became prefect of Milan.

Today, so, at the inauguration of the Consulta against the gang hiring, the minister thanked the new president "from the heart", "who gave us the great honor of accepting our request", made "with conviction with the ministers Andrea Orlando and Stefano. Patuanelli and with Enzo Bianco from Anci, by virtue of his great experience as Minister of the Interior and of Labor: he will certainly be able to help us ".

For his part, Maroni defined "a great honor to assume the presidency of the Council. An honor and a commitment that I want to carry out with all the energy necessary to give force to the Constitution, which in article 1 recognizes the right to work as a fundamental principle of every human being ".
