With the designation of its members, the regional poverty observatory was born in Sardinia which has the task - explains the region, of "detecting the needs of the territory through the collection of data relating to people in difficult situations, of mapping public services and private individuals present on the island and to provide information support and guidelines for the Region and local authorities in the preparation of specific laws and plans with a view to participatory planning ".
It includes the president of the regional council, the councilors of hygiene and health and social assistance and labor, the representatives of Caritas, the ANCI, the voluntary and social promotion associations, the representatives of the two universities of Cagliari and Sassari and trade union organizations.
"We cannot remain insensitive in the face of requests for help arriving from our territory and which are an expression of a social unease that must be fought by all means - said Governor Christian Solinas - The fight against poverty is a theme that sees us committed. across the board in the field of social and labor policies through the use of resources and measures ranging from economic support to families, to active employment policies. With the establishment of the Observatory we have given legs to an instrument that has remained unrealized for seventeen years, but of great strategic importance for planning and the connection between institutions, technicians and the world of volunteering at the forefront of poverty ".
"The Observatory - adds Mario Nieddu, regional councilor for health - is a necessary tool today more than ever, in consideration of the fact that the problem of social unrest and poverty is assuming increasingly important dimensions aggravated by the Covid-19 emergency and from the consequent economic crisis. It therefore becomes essential to rationalize the interventions and a better connection both between the associations operating in the sector and between the institutional bodies, with a view to a shared and participatory system action ".
