The "No" vote wins the constitutional referendum on justice by a wide margin. 53.25% oppose the Meloni government's reform, representing approximately 15 million voters: nearly 2 million more than the "Yes" vote, which stands at 46.75%.
"No" votes prevail in all regions except Veneto, Lombardy, and Friuli Venezia Giulia. In Sardinia, the vote against the reform is nearly 60% ( ALL RESULTS FOR THE ISLAND ).
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called it a "missed opportunity to modernize Italy, but we're moving forward." Justice Minister Carlo Nordio also "acknowledged" the result, but, he stated, "it's not our intention to attribute political significance to this vote. We thank the electorate that placed their trust in us, and we're comforted by the high voter turnout, which confirms the solidity of our democracy."
The center-left, on the other hand, is celebrating, with Democratic Party secretary Elly Schlein and Five Star Movement leader Giuseppe Conte already launching primaries to choose the Campo Largo leader ahead of the next general elections.
