Combining the love of racing with that of the environment is possible thanks to plogging, a discipline for which the first Giro d'Italia was organized this year which, precisely in Sardinia, will end on Sunday 27 November in Cagliari. Forty-six stages in total disputed, of which the first was staged on 23 January in Pordenone: a new discipline in the name of ecology as well as fun and discovery of the city, introduced on the Island by Vania Erby, athlete of Cus Cagliari.

The final stage in Cagliari, sponsored by the Municipality and organized on Sunday by the Cittadinanza Attiva and Bambini che planta Alberi associations, includes three areas in which the activities will be carried out: viale La Playa, via Pirandello at the corner of via Toti and piazza Isola. Each participant , in addition to running shoes and shorts, must have a waste collection bag and a pair of gloves with them. The participants, in the three meeting points, will be divided into small groups which will be assigned a specific path to clean up , with a volunteer to lead the various groups. Not only Cagliari, however: on November 26 the Plogging Giro d'Italia will stop in Villaurbana , Pula and Elmas , while on Sunday also in Sant'Antioco and Quartu.

At the end of the event, an olive tree will be planted symbolically with a plaque that reads: "The good example of Plogging 2022 Giro d'Italia has passed from here".

«Plogging is a discipline of great importance», the words of Vania Erby, «which aims to sensitize citizens towards greater care for the common good, stimulating their environmental awareness».
