The Nuragic civilization in Sardinia never ceases to amaze. Also thanks to the patient work of the experts, who allow history to be reread. The University of Sassari coordinated three archaeological excavation campaigns in the sites of Sos Muros (Buddusò), Illoi (Sedilo) and Ponte (Dualchi), carried out between the end of the Bronze Age and the early Iron Age (XII-VIII century BC).

The protagonists of the research were the students of the three-year and master's degree courses in Archeology and of the specialization school in Archaeological Heritage of the Sassari university, who worked together with colleagues from the Universities of Cagliari, Genoa, Bologna, Pisa and the Universitad de Cadiz , Weimar University, University of California - Los Angeles.

In Illoi, new structures and some rows of the powerful bastion of the complex nuraghe have been brought to light, previously hidden by the earthy deposit. The remains of a cult building have emerged as well as ceramic materials from the early Iron Age that are not local, imitative or of near-eastern origin. At the Sos Muros site, research conducted in the sanctuary with a sacred well revealed a circular structure, probably abandoned following a fire that destroyed its roof. Inside, artefacts functional to spinning and weaving, and ceramics for the preparation and consumption of food. Furthermore, the perimeter of the large circular building of approximately 12 meters in diameter was highlighted, very close to the well. At the Ponte di Dualchi nuraghe the excavation campaign concerned the interior of the large elliptical building located on the axis with the entrance of the nuraghe, divided into two separate environments. The materials found are both ceramic and bronze and confirm the layout and the first phase of life of the structure between the end of the Bronze Age and the beginning of the Iron Age.

The works were carried out under the concession of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and with the collaboration of the Municipalities of Buddusò, Sedilo and Dualchi.
