The 2024-2025 Serie A ended less than two weeks ago, but it's already time to turn the page and move on to the new championship. The official start will be on Saturday 23 August, with the advances of the first day, but it will already be possible to plan the 2025-2026 season today: at 6:30 pm, as part of the Serie A Festival at the Teatro Regio in Parma, the calendar with the matches of all thirty-eight days will be presented. Tomorrow, Saturday 7 June, with L'Unione Sarda on newsstands, a free four-page special with the complete calendar that you can keep and update .
The 2025-2026 Serie A includes two midweek rounds – Wednesday 29 October for the ninth matchday and Tuesday 6 January for the nineteenth matchday (the last of the first half of the season) – and four breaks for the national teams : Sunday 7 September, Sunday 12 October, Sunday 16 November and Sunday 29 March. The last matchday will be Sunday 24 May 2026 , while during the Christmas period the matches will be played on Sunday 21 December (sixteenth matchday), Sunday 28 December (seventeenth matchday) and Saturday 3 January (eighteenth matchday). For Cagliari, the debut will take place a week before the start of the championship, with the thirty-second finals of the Coppa Italia .
As has already been the case since 2021-2022, the new Serie A will also have an asymmetry in the calendar: the sequence of matches in the first half of the season will be different from that of the second half of the season . A minimum of 8 matchdays is expected between the first and second legs of the season against the same opponent, in order to respect an ever-increasing number of concomitances linked to public order reasons, the growing number of matches in European competitions, local events and the needs of the clubs, trying to maximize television audiences and stadium attendance.
The derbies (this season between Inter and Milan, Juventus and Torino, Lazio and Roma) will be scheduled on different days and not on the first day or in the first midweek round (ninth day) . The clubs participating in the Champions League (Napoli, Inter, Atalanta and Juventus) will not meet those qualified in the Europa League (Bologna and Roma) and in the Conference League (Fiorentina) on the fifth, twenty-second, twenty-sixth, twenty-ninth, thirty-second and thirty-fifth day, i.e. the Serie A rounds that are preceded and followed by those of the UEFA competitions.
The following pairs of Serie A clubs are scheduled to alternate home and away matches: Inter-Milan, Lazio-Roma, Juventus-Torino and Fiorentina-Pisa . However, there are some exceptions due to concomitant or impeding events that will not allow this: specifically at the start of the season for Fiorentina and Pisa in order to allow the completion of the planned works at the two facilities and for Milan and Inter during the period of unavailability of the Giuseppe Meazza stadium in Milan, which will be the stage for the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics on 6 February 2026.
