The new edition of the Mauro Giuliani International Guitar Festival, now in its seventh year, opens under the banner of great music and the meeting of high-profile artistic experiences.

The event, sponsored by the Municipality of Quartu Sant'Elena, will once again host renowned musicians and scholars this year, offering three days dedicated to the guitar, chamber music, and dialogue between different disciplines, with a program that combines dissemination, research, and promotion of the classical repertoire.

The festival, with the second Mauro Giuliani International Conference, returns to Quartu Sant'Elena from November 28th to 30th, offering a variety of initiatives aimed at classical music lovers, students, musicians, and the simply curious.

The program of the event brings together music, literature, psychology and science in a multidisciplinary dialogue.

The concert calendar offers two particularly charming events, both held in the evocative setting of the Fresco Hall of the Ex Convento dei Cappuccini.

The opening evening, scheduled for Friday, November 28th at 9 pm, features the duo “Federico il grande,” composed of flautist Riccardo Ghiani, soloist of the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari and a leading figure on the international flute scene, and guitarist Simone Onnis, a key figure in Italian concert music abroad and for two years artistic director of one of the most important guitar festivals in the world , the one dedicated to “Andres Segovia” in the Iberian capital, Madrid, ready to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026.

The Duo offers a refined repertoire including pieces by Bach, Giuliani, and Schubert, showcasing the brilliant dialogue between the two instruments through the interpretation of two exceptional musicians.

On Saturday, November 29th, at 8 pm, at the same venue, the evening will be dedicated to chamber music with a concert by the Ensemble Boccherini, a string trio made up of Mauro Farci (violin), Pierpaolo Pais (cello), and Tommaso Delogu (viola).

The trio will offer a special program on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, paying homage to the great master of polyphony with works by Schubert, Beethoven, and Mozart.

On the final day, Sunday, November 30, from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM, the 2nd International Mauro Giuliani Conference will take place, offering a series of meetings dedicated to the relationship between music, health, psychophysical well-being, and emotions.

The lectures will address topics ranging from the relationship between creativity and the psyche, to the connections between music and emotions, to breathing techniques for musicians and allergies related to musical instruments.

The event will conclude at 7:00 pm at The Social Gallery with the show "Mauro Giuliani Accompanies Giovanni Boccaccio," featuring actress Anna Brotzu and guitarist Simone Onnis in an evocative journey through literature and music, created to mark the 650th anniversary of Boccaccio's death.
