Hellas Verona is under seizure. The judge of the preliminary investigations ordered the seizure of 100% of the Hellas shares, an operation carried out by the Guardia di Finanza of Bologna.
As part of the investigation that led to this preventive seizure, the current owner of the club, Maurizio Setti, is being investigated for fraudulent bankruptcy together with another person.
The provision, explains the Finance Department, arises from investigations conducted following the bankruptcy of a joint-stock company "already owner of the aforementioned and integral shareholding". It is suspected that Setti simulated the fictitious sale of the football club to other groups also attributable to him. Before the bankruptcy of H23, the company that managed Verona Calcio, it would have transferred control and ownership of the club to Star Ball srl.
A storm that arrives a few days before the match against Cagliari, scheduled for Saturday at the Bentegodi.
The club tries to clarify with a short note: «The seizure story does not concern the assets of Hellas Verona Fc Spa, which are not affected. The seizure is part of the umpteenth judicial skirmish in the dispute between Maurizio Setti's corporate group and Gabriele Volpi's corporate group. The investigating judge's decision will be appealed."
