"It is certainly not easy for us to speak today, we are still deeply shaken and hurt by the disappearance of our leader who will always remain our leader". This was stated by Forza Italia coordinator Antonio Tajani in a press conference with group leaders Paolo Barelli and Licia Ronzulli , taking stock of the future of the party after the death of the leader and founder Silvio Berlusconi.

Tajani also spoke about the possible roles of Marina Berlusconi, the Cavaliere's eldest daughter, and Marta Fascina, a deputy and his partner. «Marina Berlusconi has reiterated to me, in respect of the roles, the esteem and affection and closeness of all her family to Forza Italia», while for Fascina «there is no need to carve out formal spaces».

As for the next steps, "to comply with article 19 of the statute, which unfortunately provides for what must be done in the event of the president's impediment, the presidential committee will meet next Thursday and will convene the National Council," explained Tajani. Adding: «The National Council will be called upon to elect the president of the political movement who will have to lead the movement until the next National Congress. It will have to be convened by the new president, on the basis of the statute, after consultation with the National Council. These are the statutory obligations that we will respect".

"The name of Berlusconi - concluded the coordinator - will always be in our symbol because this is his creature, this is and will always be Silvio Berlusconi's party".
